Frank Keith Prevost, former resident of Pickens, SC, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011, in Cincinnati, OH, while under the care of his beloved daughter. Born March 21, 1918, in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late Frank Keith Prevost, Sr., and Nell Acker Prevost and the husband of the late Leila Sullivan Prevost. He was a graduate of Anderson Boys’ High School and The Citadel, Class of 1939. He graduated from the third-ever Army Ranger School. During WW II, he served in the China-Burma-India theater, behind the Japanese lines, as a battalion commander in the celebrated Merrill’s Marauders. After 31 years in the Reserves, he retired a full Colonel. A lifelong Presbyterian and elder of over 40 years, his faithful church memberships have included First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, SC, as well as a longtime member of the Pickens Presbyterian Church in Pickens, SC, where he served in various capacities. While residing in Cincinnati, he was a member of Covenant-First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his daughter, Marney Prevost Weis and her husband, H.B. “Jack” Weis of Cincinnati, OH, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Marguerite Prevost Powers; and brothers: Dr. Claude Prevost, Ernest Prevost, and William Prevost. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Old Silver Brook Cemetery, 1901 White Street, Anderson, SC, conducted by Dr. Dennis R. Tedder. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorials be made to Covenant-First Presbyterian Church, 713 Elm St., Cincinnati, OH 45202.
