Robert Edward Hanna Jr. No services are scheduled for Robert Edward Hanna Jr., who died March 2 in hospice. He was 88. A native of South Carolina, Mr. Hanna had lived in Santa Cruz since 1989, practicing law after passing the California bar at age 68. Mr. Hanna practiced law for 17 years in New York and New Jersey and worked nine years as technical director of NBC’s Kraft Television Theater, during which time he received an Emmy Award for best live production in 1957. “Newsweek” named him “the industry’s best technical director” that same year. A graduate of the Citadel, he served in China and Burma during World War II. Since 1990, he enjoyed doing community service in the Prunedale Methodist Church and spending time with family. SURVIVORS: Wife Lesley Lathrop of Santa Cruz; former wife Mary Hanna of Dallas; daughter Myrle Westlund of Dallas; sons Robert Hanna of Pittsburgh and William Hanna of Ann Arbor, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
