Thomas Perry Semmens, Jr., 69, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 31, 2010, in Columbia, Missouri. Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., August 5, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Thomas was born on July 12, 1941, to Thomas Perry Semmens, Sr. and Corinne Middleton in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by two sisters, and one brother. Thomas married Barbara Jane Hall on July 26, 1975 in Arrow Rock, Missouri. Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Northwestern University in 1964. He attended O.C.S. in Athens, GA before entering the US Navy where he served for 21 years, retiring as LCDR. After receiving a Master’s Degree from the College of William and Mary in 1977, Tom was employed in marketing and insurance until 1988 when he and his wife went into business on Johns Island, SC. In 1996 they retired to Marshall, MO eventually moving to Columbia, MO. Thomas and his wife became members of the Trinity Lutheran Church where Thomas enjoyed membership in a morning Bible Study Class. Throughout his life, Thomas was active in Church membership, the National Defense Transportation, Habitat for Humanity, the Optimist Club plus pursing a variety of many different interests in varied crafts. Thomas and his wife traveled extensively to many interesting and varied places of interest. Tom is survived by his wife Barbara, two brother-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. Tom’s sense of humor, determination, and love of family and friends will be greatly missed.
