Thomas J. Adair, 86, of Xenia, passed away Sunday evening, July 4, 2010, at Greene Oaks Health Center. He was born June 10, 1924, in Xenia, the son of James D. and Helen Albaugh Adair. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for 75 years, a veteran of the US Army during World War II, a member of American Legion Post, #95, the Xenia Kiwanis Club, was a former member of the board of directors of Citizens First National Bank, and was a member of the 1942 Xenia High School State Championship basketball team. He was the former owner of Adair Furniture. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Overhuls) Adair, whom he married, July 1, 1964, two step-daughters, Kathe (Rev. James) Nelson, Pasadena, CA, and Kate (Doug) Cooney, Xenia, a step-son, James (Lana) Kelly, Springboro, five step-grandchildren, Kelly McHugh, Claire Nelson, Hannah Nelson, Erin Kelly, Ali Kelly, and by two nieces and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother, Clinton D. Adair. Tom will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 990 Old Springfield Pike, Xenia, with Rev. Brian Maguire officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, or to the Central State University Music Scholarship Fund.
