Robert Edward Bell died September 11, 2010, at Mayo Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. He was born March 20, 1941, in Queens, NY, to the late Rowland Edward and Phoebe Cannert Bell. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; daughters, Laura Bell and Leah Crosby with husband Christopher Crosby; brothers, Rowland Bell and Russell Bell; sisters, Emily Carroll and Ellin Leder; and five grandchildren. Robert was an alumnus of Pembroke State University, Appalachian State University, and The Citadel. He began his thirty-eight year career in education as a teacher and coach with Dillon School District One, Lake View, SC. He retired as an administrator with the Colleton County School District, Walterboro, SC. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Colleton County Department of Mental Retardation and the Lowcountry Community Action Agency. A memorial service was held on September 15, 2010, at St. Jude’s Episcopal Church in Walterboro, with a Scattering of Ashes Service scheduled for December 4, 2010, at 4:00 p.m., at the memorial garden of St. Paul’s by the Sea Episcopal Church in Jacksonville Beach, FL.
