Dr. Frederick Aurbach, 95, retired dentist, of Wichita, KS, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010. Service will be 1 p.m., Sunday, May 30, at Ahavath Achim Hebrew Congregation. Dr. Aurbach was a 1937 graduate of The Citadel and 1941 graduate of the University of Maryland College of Dentistry. He served with the 5th Army, 435th AAA and the 473rd Infantry Regiment. Combat action included Salerno, Anzio, Rapido River and Monte Cassino, Italy. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Medic’s Badge. He was discharged as a Major in 1946. Preceded in death by wife, Gertrude (Berkowitz) Aurbach. Survivors: sons, Michael Aurbach (Professor of Art at Vanderbilt University in Nashville) and Justin Aurbach of Dallas, TX (practicing Endodontist and Assistant Professor at TAMU Baylor Dental College); grandchildren, Leslie Ann Ferguson, Jennifer Lynn Smith, Stephanie Jill Aurbach and Allison Nicole Aurbach; great-grandchildren, Jacquelyn Leigh Ferguson and Kathryn Paige Ferguson. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Wichita Hebrew Congregation, 1850 N. Woodlawn, Wichita, 67208 and The Citadel, 171 Moultrie St, Charleston, SC 29409.
