Robert L. “”Bob”” McLeod, 85, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010. He was born August 14, 1924 to E.L. McLeod and Ruth Lester McLeod of Orlando, FL. Bob was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Orlando High School in 1942 with many honors. He attended the Citadel his freshman year and then served in China and Burma with the United States Army during World War II. Bob then went to the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He was a past president and long time secretary/treasurer of the Ormond Beach Rotary Club, founder of the Darcy Akers Scholarship Fund, namesake of the Bob McLeod Service Above Self Award, a Paul Harris Fellow and the club’s Millenium Rotarian. Bob was a past president of the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Ormond Beach Recreational Advisory Board and was very active in youth baseball. He served as an elder in the Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach Presbyterian Churches and at his death was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Ormond Beach. Bob was also a longtime member of Oceanside Country Club where he also served as the official starter of the SALLY. Pre-deceased by his parents and brother, Edward L. McLeod Jr., he is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Pat; a daughter, Kingsley Kaminer of Asheville, NC; son, Robert L. “”Mac”” McLeod and his wife Barbara of St. Augustine; seven grandchildren, Anna McLeod, Rachel Kaminer, Leah McLeod, Hannah Kaminer, Benjamin McLeod, Julia Kaminer and Sarah Kaminer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either: Christ Presbyterian Church, 1135 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174 or Darcy Akers Scholarship, 549 Health Boulevard, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. His family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Haigh-Black Funeral Home, 167 Vining Court, Ormond Beach. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Presbyterian Church. Tags: 1946
