John Arthur Freese, 81, of Salem, SC, husband of Edna Charbonneau Freese, died Monday, August 24, 2009 at Cottingham Hospice House. A native of Chicago, IL, Mr. Freese was the son of the late Arthur Milton and Stella Dora Reger Freese. He was a general superintendent of US Steel and a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Mr. Freese was also a member of Salem Lions Club. In addition to his wife, Mr. Freese is survived by sons, Patrick A. Freese (Karen) of Atlanta, GA and Richard A. Freese (Phyllis) of Birmingham, AL; brother, James. A. Freese of Sun City, AZ; sister, Judy F. Glynn of Atlanta; and grandchildren, Dawn, Austin and John, Cody, Callan, Sam and Jack. In addition to his parents, Mr. Freese was predeceased by his first wife, Rosemary E. Freese; daughter, Barbara A. Johnson and sister, Jeanne F. Siekkotter. A funeral mass will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Seneca. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m.at the church prior to the service. Burial will be held in Pelham, Alabama on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Southern Heritage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to OMC Hospice of The Foothills, attn: Foundation Office, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672. Davenport Funeral Home is in Charge of the arrangements.
