Vernon Brian Jackson, of Charleston, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 28, 2010, Vernon Brian Jackson, Sr. husband of Sara Cordle Jackson, of John’s Island, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Brian Jackson, Sr., are invited to attend his Memorial Service, at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at St. John’s Parish Episcopal Church on John’s Island. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Charleston Foundation, 676 Wando Park Blvd, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. Mr. Jackson was born in Orlando, FL, on December 9, 1939, a son of the late Joseph L. and Peggie Moore Jackson. He graduated from James Island High School, the Citadel and received his Masters in electrical engineering from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Jackson was a nuclear engineer and retired after many years of faithful service from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a former partner of the Wet Shop, a partner in AJT Enterprise and a realtor with Carolina One Real Estate. Mr. Jackson was an active member of St. John’s Parish Episcopal Church and the Citadel Alumni Association. He loved the Lowcountry outdoors and enjoyed fishing, crabbing, shrimping and boating in addition to his weekly poker club. Surviving is his wife, Sara Cordle Jackson, five children, Vernon B. Jackson III, Deena Colleen Jackson, Teresa A. Fralix, Becky F. Norris and Beth F. Hanes; seven grandchildren, a brother, Dennis Jackson and several nieces and nephews.
