Andrew J. Zelesnak KOPPEL Andrew J. Zelesnak of Koppel went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 22, 2009, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital with his family at his side. Born December 9, 1936, he was a son of the late John and Anna (Lockawich) Zelesnak. Andrew was a 1955 graduate of Lincoln High School, Ellwood City, and a 1959 graduate of the Citadel Military College of South Carolina, where he was a member of the football teams at both schools. Majoring in civil engineering, he retired after forty years as an electrical and civil engineer and as a surveyor. He served in the United States Army as an officer from February of 1960 to May of 1962 during the Berlin Crisis and was stationed in Germany. He also served his community as a councilman for the borough of Koppel. He was a member of the Queen of Heaven Parish, Koppel, and the Koppel I.M.B.S. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter, sportsman, gardener and carpenter. Surviving are his wife of fifty years, Dorothy (Dorry) Jane (Docchio) Zelesnak; two daughters, Lynda Jane Zelesnak of Koppel, and Lauralee Zelesnak of Ewing Park, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna (Lockawich) Zelesnak and John Zelesnak; a sister, Jeannine (Zelesnak) Gioffre; a brother-in-law, Joseph Gioffre, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carmel (Barile) Docchio and Herman Dochio, and many aunts and uncles. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by the SAMUEL TEOLIS FUNERAL HOME INC., 309 Spring Ave., Ellwood City. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Ellwood City on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at 10 a.m. with Father Lou Pascazi officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the church on Tuesday by 10:30 a.m. to conduct full military rites. The family requests that memorial contributions be made, if desired, to UPMC Lung Transplant Program, 200 Lothrop St, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15213, in the honor of Andrew J. Zelesnak, or to the Citadel Military College of South Carolina, The Citadel Foundation, 171 Moultrie St., Charleston , SC 29409, in the Honor of Andrew J. Zelesnak, 1959 Class Reunion Fund.
