Brigadier General Raymond Astumian, USA, Ret., 89, of Macon, GA, died Sunday, October 18, 2009. Services will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park. A Rosary will be said at Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street, on Thursday at 6:00PM. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Georgia, P. O. Box 6533, Macon, GA 31208. -Mr. Astumian was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. A veteran of the United States Army, he served in World War II and was recalled during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Astumian graduated from the Citadel in 1942 and from Mercer University in 1947. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise Foerster Astumian. -Mr. Astumian is survived by his son, Raymond Dean Astumian; daughter, Sara Lynn Astumian; two grandchildren, Joseph and Judith Astumian; sister, Mary Astumian; nieces and nephews, Phyllis Astumian, Patricia Clark, Raymond D.
