George DuBose Sells, age 73, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at his Johnson City Home. He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, and was the son of the late William S. and Louise DuBose Sells. Mr. Sells was a graduate of the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, and also served in the United States Air Force. He was employed by Merrill Lynch for 20 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Bill and Mac Sells. He is survived by his wife Emily, son, George D. Sells Jr., Johnson City; daughter, Cindy Burger and husband, Jason, Charlotte, North Carolina; brother, Dr. Frank Sells and wife, Pat, Ridgeland, South Carolina; sister, Carolyn Berrong and husband, Larry, Monroe, Georgia; sister-in-laws, Beth Sells, Knoxville, Tennessee, Joan Sells, Fort Pierce, Florida; 5 grandchildren: Savannah Sells, Megan Sells and Ethan Sells, all of Johnson City, and Jackson Burger and Chloe Burger, Charlotte, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the following: First Presbyterian Church, 105 South Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37601; Boy Scouts of America, 129 Boone Ridge Drive, Johnson City, TN 37601; The Citadel, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409; or to Medical Center Hospice, 101 Med Tech Parkway, Suite 100, Johnson City, TN 37604. It was Mr. Sells wishes to donate his body to the E.T.S.U. College of Medicine. A Memorial Service for Mr. George DuBose will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Johnson City. Tags: 1958
