Jean Cason Mundy, 58, of Greenville, died Feb. 27, 2009. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Joan Brannon Mundy and William David Mundy, and granddaughter to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jean N. Brannon and Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Mundy. Jean graduated from Winthrop College with a BA in History. She earned an MAT in History and a Masters plus 30 hours in Secondary Administration and Supervision from The Citadel. Jean began her teaching career at St. Andrews Parish High School in Charleston, where she taught for 26 years. She also taught at the Academic Magnate High School in Charleston for three years. Upon returning to Greenville, she became active in her church, Earle St. Baptist Church, and developed many friendships she truly cherished. Jean was a member of the NEA, SCEA, CCEA, Phi Delta National Education Fraternity, National Council of Social Studies, Greenville Democratic Women, and Greenville Genealogical Society. Surviving are sisters, Mary M. Ball and husband, Jim, of Charleston, S.C., Anne M. Holland and husband Don, and Suzanne M. Verga, all of Greenville. Also a nephew, Ronnie Verga and Amy; and niece, Michele Dumit and Bobby. The family wishes to sincerely thank Dr. Stephen Clyborne for the love and support for Jean and her sisters. We also thank the staff at McCall Hospice House for the gracious care and kindness. Memorial services celebrating Jean’s life will be held at Earle St. Baptist Church on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at 2 p.m. Visitation immediately following. The family will gather at 202 Traymore Dr., Greer, SC, following services. The family requests donations to Earle Street Baptist Church, 225 W. Earle St., Greenville, SC 29609.
