Magnus Monsen entered into eternal rest on the morning of February 15, 2009, Magnus A. Monsen, husband of Doris Nelson Monsen. Residence, Charleston, SC. Funeral services will be private. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Tuesday from four until six o’clock. Magnus was born October 6, 1919 in Orange, NJ, and raised in Sumter, SC, the son of George A. Monsen and Jane Williams Monsen. He graduated from The Citadel in 1941 and served on active duty as an officer in the U.S. Army for all of World War II. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve as a Lt. Colonel. He was Senior Partner with Schleeter, Monsen & Debacker Certified Public Accountants for more than 50 years. He served as treasurer of the Charleston County John Ancrum SPCA. He was a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Rotary International, and Grace Episcopal Church, where he served as treasurer for 32 years. He is survived by his wife of 62 years; two sons, Craig Monsen and his wife Kathleen of Centreville, VA and Stephen N. Monsen and his wife Suzan of Houston, TX; one daughter, Anne Monsen Daniell and her husband Ted of Charleston, SC; three grandsons, Stephen N. Monsen, Jr., Ross W. Monsen and Edward H.
