Gary Edward Scheuing, 71, passed away of natural causes in his New Berlin home on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2008. Gary was born April 13, 1937, to Kenneth and Lillian (nee Willoughby) Scheuing in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, and was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers. He served his country twice in Vietnam, once as an adviser and again as a combat engineer officer, earning the Bronze Star with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Gary married Ruby Kay Britsch, an Army nurse from Seward, IL, on February 1968, in Vietnam at the height of the Tet Offensive. He retired from the Army as a lieutenant colonel in 1979. He and his family moved to Wisconsin where he assumed the role of Senior Army Instructor at St. John’s Military Academy in Delafield. Gary is survived by his wife Ruby and their children Kristen (Jerimy Rademacher), Michael (Montser-rat, nee Sanchez de Castro), and Steven (Cindy, nee Marsicek); four grandchildren, Mae, Ruby, Owen, and Allegra. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth (who died earlier this year), and sister Lillian Marie. Visitation will be held at St. Luke’s Parish Catholic Church (18000 W. Greenfield Ave., Brookfield, WI, (262)782-0032), on Sat., Nov. 14, from 9:30 AM- 10:45 AM, followed by a mass in his honor at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, 14875 W.
