William Bancroft Mellor Wilson, 24, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, in Columbia, after being struck while riding his bicycle on Devine Street. Wilson, a 2007 Citadel graduate, worked at Wilson Kibler, a local commercial real estate firm. He is survived by his parents, Maura and Jeremy Wilson, brothers, B. Graham, Joseph W., J. Mason and Edward S. Wilson, all living in the Columbia area except Graham who lives in Atlanta. He is also survived by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Springer of Rochester, N.Y., and many uncles, aunts and cousins. Wilson was an eleven letter cross country/track participant at The Citadel and majored in business administration. He was a 2003 graduate of Cardinal Newman School, and was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish. During his senior year at Cardinal Newman he was undefeated and state champion in cross country. His love for running continued after college graduation, and he was training to run in the Kiawah Island Marathon. He had a great work ethic, often working with his brothers, or for his friend, Sam Clarke, or with his friend, Zack Hudson. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held noon Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Devine St. with visitation to follow.
