Russell Wheeler Powell, 40, of 188 Chapman Road, passed away Monday, June 30, 2008. He is survived by his beloved wife, Caroline Coleman Powell; sons, Coleman Wheeler and Wesley Pitts; a daughter, Madison Grace; his parents, Bonnie and M. Lee Powell, III; a brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Kelly Powell; and several nieces and nephews who thought he hung the moon. Mr. Powell was a 1991 graduate of the Citadel. He had a successful business career and was a great motivator to others. His accomplishments included: Partner and Director of Sales with Corporate Telemanagement Group, Senior Vice-President of Sales with BTI in Raleigh, Founder and President of State Communicants/Trivergent/Nuvox, President/Owner of Teleco Wilmington/Charleston, President of Carolina Manufacturing, and President/Owner of Advance Concrete Construction, LLC. Along with being a devoted husband, father, and son, Mr. Powell was one of the most generous, charismatic men one could ever meet. He was always helping those who were less fortunate and he gave selflessly. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 2, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary. The family is at the home.
