Salerno, Arthur Joseph, 67, of Villa Park, died on June 3, 2008 in Newport Beach surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathleen; 3 sons, Brian, Kevin and Damien; daughter, Mary Kate; daughter-in-law, Kelly and grandchildren, Kortni, Kati, Conlin, Bryson, Corrigan, Caden, Camden, and Jillian. Art was born January 24, 1941 in Queens, New York to parents Rita and Angelo Salerno. He graduated from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He served in the United States Army as an Officer in the Ordinance Corps. A native New Yorker, he lived in Germany, Minnesota, and New Jersey before moving to Southern California in 1977. He worked in the vitamin and nutraceutical industry before becoming an entrepreneur and owner of American Ingredients until his retirement in 2001. He spent time with his family in Avalon, Newport Beach, and he traveled the world. He will be remembered as a man of great generosity, love, humor, and spirit. Visitation will be on June 10, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m., and a Rosary will be held at 7pm at Shannon Bryan Mortuary; 137 E. Maple, Orange. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 11 at 10am at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church; 5800 Santa Ana Canyon Road, Anaheim Hills.
