Dr. Sherwin S. Fischman, 79, of 417 Wildwood Dr., Orange, devoted husband of Marilyn (Zackin) Fischman, died at the Hosp. of St. Raphael on Sat., April 5, 2008. Born in New Haven, May 30, 1928, he was the son of the late Dr. Jacob A. Fischman. Beloved Father of Reyna (David) Ottenstein of New Haven, Michael (Julie) Fischman of Avon, David (Tamara) Fischman of Orange, Barry (Gila) Fischman of Woodbridge, Steven (Jo-Anna) Fischman of West Hartford, & Debra (Blake) Hargrove of Hillsboro, TX. Cherished Grandfather of Noah & Yael Ottenstein, Jamie & Alex Fischman, Shayne, Collin, & Clayton Fischman, Allison & Jonathan Fischman, Rachel & Jack Fischman, Katie & Alice Hargrove. Dr. Fischman was a graduate of The Citadel and the Lincoln College of Chiropractic, and served as a First Lt. in the Army during the Korean War. He was a Chiropractic Physician in the greater New Haven area for many years, worked as a Physical Therapist in several area convalescent centers, and was then appointed Director of Physical Therapy at Whitney Center in Hamden until his retirement. He was a Past President of Temple Emanuel of Orange, a member of the Orange Democratic Town Committee, the Orange Scholarship Fund, Cosmopolitan Lodge #125, A.F. & A.M, & the Pyramid Temple Shrine, as well as being a life-long avid fisherman. Funeral Services at the Robert E. Shure Funeral Home, 543 George St., New Haven MONDAY afternoon at 3:00 o’clock with Interment Services to follow in the Temple Emanuel Cemetery, Ladas Place, Shelton.
