Thomas Harrell Barr, of Pawleys Island and Georgetown, died Feb. 25.
Following several years of employment with Utilities Construction Co. of Charleston, he attended law school at the University of South Carolina and was admitted to the Bar in 1976. Barr worked for two years with the firm Moore, Flowers and Doar of Georgetown before setting up practice on his own from his family home, first in Georgetown and then in Pawleys Island. He retired in 2006. Barr was a past president of the Georgetown County Bar Association. He was an active member of The Citadel Alumni Association. Barr is predeceased by his father, Capt. Capers G. Barr, Jr., ’34. He is survived by his wife, Carol B. Barr, P.O. Box 531, Pawleys Island, S.C., 29585-0531; two brothers, to include Capers G. Barr III, ’63, 44 Barre St., Charleston, S.C., 29401-1254; and William S. Barr, ’65, 242 Bennett St., Mt. Pleasant, S.C., 29464-5350; two daughters, a son, a granddaughter, 10 nephews and nieces and eight grand-nephews and nieces.
