Randall Esley Strickland, 58, of Summerville, husband of Sue Anne (Wright) Strickland, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at his residence. Friends and family may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home on Monday, June 9, 2014 from 6 o’clock until 8 o’clock PM. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 2:30 PM at Summerville Presbyterian Church, 407 South Laurel Street, Summerville. Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 1 o’clock PM at White Church Cemetery in Summerville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Summerville Presbyterian Church, “White Church Cemetery Fund”, 407 S. Laurel Street, Summerville, SC 29483. Randy was born on December 24, 1955 in Cayce, SC son of Virginia (Bell) Strickland of Cayce, SC and the late Esley Strickland. He graduated from Brooklyn-Cayce High School in Cayce, SC. He then went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education from The University of SC and his Master’s Degree in School Administration from The Citadel. He was a member of Lambda Chi at The University of SC. He was also a member of The University of SC Association of Letterman. He also served as the athletic trainer for The North/South Game and The Shrine Bowl. Coach Strickland was Nationally and State certified as an Athletic Trainer. He was an Athletic Trainer for Barnwell High School and Summerville High School. He was also a teacher, assistant principal and Director of Transportation for Dorchester County School District II. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to his mother and his wife Sue Anne are: one daughter: Ashley Strickland of Summerville; one son: Caleb Strickland of Summerville; one brother: Mike Strickland of Clarksville, TN; mother in law: Cora Wright of Summerville; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. www.jamesadyal.com.
