Frank V. Pease, 82, of Fortson, GA passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2009 in Maryville, TN. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Monday, April 6, 2009 according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road. Burial with military honors follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. on Monday, April 6, 2009 at the funeral home. Mr. Pease was born February 14, 1927 in Savannah, GA, son of the late Leonard Garrard Pease and Leila Schley Pease. He attended Wynnton School and graduated from Columbus High School in 1943. Following active duty in the U. S. Navy during WWII, he graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) in 1949 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While at Auburn, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. After graduation, he spent the next 19 years working for Alabama Power Company in Anniston, AL. There he served as President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and as President of the Anniston Rotary Club. Mr. Pease was named outstanding Young Man of Anniston in 1960. In 1968, he returned to Columbus, GA as Senior Industrial Sales Engineer, Columbus Division of Georgia Power Company. Mr. Pease was then promoted to serve as Georgia Power’s District Manager in Manchester, GA, retiring in 1986. While in Manchester, he served as an Elder of the Manchester Presbyterian Church, Chairman of the Manchester County Cancer Society and as Chairman of the Creek District, Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Pease was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbus, GA. In July 1978, Mr. Pease retired from the U. S. Naval Reserve after 33 years of service with the rank of Commander. He served for three years as the Commanding Officer of the Naval Reserve Surface Division 6-9 in Columbus, GA. Mr. Pease was married to Shirley Thomas in 1953 until her death in 1988. They had three daughters, Jeannie, Leila and Frances. Following Shirley’s death, he married Virginia Cummings Page in 1990. They were married until her death in 2008. Mr. Pease was preceded also by a brother, Leonard G. Pease, Jr. Survivors include his three daughters, Leila Blair and her husband, John of Maryville, TN, Frances Castile and her husband, Dale of Fortson, GA and Shirley Jean Pease; one brother, J. Norman Pease and his wife, Cherry of Columbus, GA; two grandchildren, Alesha Blair and Shawn Blair; sister-in-law, Helen McCormick Pease of Columbus, GA; three step-children, Pete Page and his wife, Pat of Upatoi, GA, Leslie Cooling and her husband, Ed of Hamilton, GA and Tam Yarbrough and her husband, Lewis of Columbus, GA; numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren; several friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his memory to a charity of your choice. Tags: 1947
