Lawrence L. Baggett Jr., 61, of Valdosta, Ga., died on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at his home. Lawrence “Larry” Baggett Jr., 61, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at his home. Born in Valdosta on Oct. 7, 1952, he was the son of Mary Olleta Templeton Baggett and the late Lawrence L. Baggett Sr. Mr. Baggett was a graduate of the Riverside Military Academy in Gainesvile, Ga., and was an alumni of the Citadel. He served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of E5. He worked as a Real Estate developer and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors are his mother, Olleta Templeton Baggett of Valdosta; nephew, Tyler Baggett of Gainesville, Fla.; niece, Victoria Baggett of Gainesville, Fla. He was preceded in death by his father; his maternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. C.O. Templeton; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Baggett; and brother, Dr. Bart Baggett. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Bob Moon and Pastor C. Michael Chastian Sr. will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church, The Pearlman Cancer Center or Hospice of South Georgia.
